We can’t control all of the external chaos in our world right now, but we can take charge of how we live and how we feel.
The past year has not been kind to us traveling souls. Like many of you, I haven’t explored much beyond my backyard — literally — and for someone who has found so much serenity through travel, this lockdown hasn’t been easy.
Last year was full of personal struggles, but one thing that has kept me (relatively) sane is attempting to stay focused on the things I can change — versus the things that I cannot change. I’m not able to travel, but I am thankful for the ability to still have those meaningful travel experiences — without stepping foot outside my door.
How To Have Your Own ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ Journey Without Traveling
You might say that instead of setting off on a grand travel journey, many of us have been given the opportunity to set off on a journey of the mind, body and soul unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetime.
As a result of all of the events that have happened over the past year, I think it’s fair to say we are all a little traumatized. I know I am. The good news is that there are so many tools available to help us work through these emotions and and help to reset our nervous system.
For me, the best thing that came out of 2020 is that it limited my options. I could no longer ignore the quiet voice inside of me. I could no longer stuff it down with an unlimited amount of distractions.
That tiny voice inside me has been nudging me to follow my heart and use my life experience to help others.
My own healing journey has led me to receive training in a handful of healing modalities and I’m very passionate about sharing these tools with others.
My thirst for this knowledge and training initially came about because I had been struggling with healing from childhood sexual repressed trauma. This sent me on a journey of seeking modalities to help me move through this stuck energy.
While on the surface I had the dream life — getting paid to travel the world — I was struggling inside.
Hypnosis, Breathwork and Neuro Linguistic Programming were the techniques that ultimately helped me transform all four aspects of myself — mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. Through this work, I have found that lasting happiness doesn’t come from anything we can achieve externally. Instead, it comes from within.
These past few years, and 2020 especially, I keep coming back to this lesson: we are not in control of what happens around us and we don’t need to be. Life is so much more joyous when we can learn to let go. To live in the flow. Sometimes life can bring us to our knees and it can be extremely painful but that pain doesn’t have to break us.
