See What You’re Missing in Southeast Alaska
Alaska will charm even the most adventurous explorers. It captivated the intrepid seeker Christopher McCandless in 1992 — as he set out on an adventure of a lifetime — and it seduced me from the moment I stepped outside the Ketchikan airport.
It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to experience the Alaskan wilderness. Sure, plenty of people express how amazing it would be to visit Alaska, but I think we only personally know one other person who actually made the trip. For a long time, it’s been that undiscovered territory, just out of my reach.
Alaska has such a rich assortment of sights: large bodies of water, rainforest, sea life, wildlife, glaciers and endless open spaces. Not knowing which area to visit and how to experience this land seems like a barrier for most people. I’m glad we finally made the trip and it’s one of the most incredible places I’ve ever visited. I’m actually surprised we put it off for so long.
If you’ve read our previous posts, then you’ve already seen a glimpse of the pristine wilderness we witnessed during our 8-day Un-Cruise Adventure, but we have plenty more to show you!
Know Before You Go: You can view the different Alaska itineraries that Un-Cruise Adventures offers on their website. We booked the Inner Reaches Western Coves adventure itinerary — which begins in Ketchikan and ends in Juneau.

Wow…Alaska is one of the only two US States I haven’t visited…yet. Your photos make me want to hop on a plane there right now! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks, Derek. That’s pretty impressive! I think I’ve only been to about 10 states. 🙂 Scott’s been to more, but he’s driven across the country a few times. I’m in need of a U.S. road trip!
Looks very beautiful but very wet. It’s always a crap shoot in that part of the world if the weather will cooperate. I don’t know if inland Alaska is sunnier and drier???
Wow, great scenery! I haven’t been anywhere in Alaska yet….love the otter and porcupine pics!
Awesome picture of the umbrella’s 🙂 I hung all of them one season at the greenhouse this was taken at and what a lot of fun it was! These are very colorful and you captured them perfectly. Thank you
I love the photo of the fish eating the jellyfish but my favorite is the glacier – that blue coloring is unbelievably gorgeous. I hope to visit Alaska one day – it’s beauty has always been captivating to me.
Wow! That looks amazing. Great wildlife shots as well. We are in Costa Rica discovering how hard those can really be to get!!
Amazing! I love the outdoors. This seems like the perfect place for amazing scenery and wildlife encounters.
Amaaaazing, guys!
