My Summer Bucket List!

My Summer Bucket List!
As summer approaches, I’ve been thinking a lot about my short-term goals and how I plan to spend the sunny season this year. In June, it will be one year since I finally became self-employed and August will be our 4-year blogiversary. Aside from career accomplishments, I have some personal goals that I want to focus on this summer.
It’s important for me to spend as much time as possible at home during the summer months. The energy in our little beach town when the sun is shining and the water temps rise above 65 degrees is indescribable.
One of the reasons I love living in San Diego is because I’m able to spend so much time with the ocean. I could be having the worst day and all I have to do is hop on my bike and take a ride to the beach — or grab my board and spend a few hours paddling around with the dolphins — and it changes my mood completely.
Because the ocean is my happy place, I think it’s appropriate that almost every item on my summer bucket list involves an ocean activity.

It looks like I’ll be able to check off all of these bucket list items this summer. I’m a little nervous about whether I’ll panic during my first open water dive in Bonaire, but I’ve started meditating so I’ll be better prepared to talk myself out of an anxiety attack in the water. I figure if I can get over my debilitating fear of sharks enough to become a surfer, then I can learn to breathe underwater.

In less than a week, I’m leaving for Panama City Beach with Travel Mindset to check off the summer bucket list items in that destination. Stay tuned for updates and follow along with the hashtag #PCBeachBucketList.

Christy, It sounds like you are packing a lot into this summer! Good luck on the dive certification. I have to just be content to snorkel. I’m a wuss! Yay Panama!
Oh man, I do miss my beloved San Diego! But traveling has given me rich experiences to replace the perfect sunsets from my board in the line-ups of Tourmaline, Blacks, Cardiff, and the Cliffs. Master the SCUBA and then trek to the Channel Islands! Say hello to Bell’Italia for me and tell her I miss her. And Panama City will give you such a different aspect of “fun in the sun”…so unforgettable! Namaste amiga, travel safe and glide through a long right off the PB Point for me when you get a chance. 🙂
I think if you get to do half of those items this summer it would be considered a success, but I hope you are able to knock all ten off. Have fun!
Great photos in this post!
And a pretty nice bucket list as well:)
The SCUBA certification drills will ensure you don’t panic on your first dive. You may not conserve O2 as well as an accomplished diver – I still have that problem – but it will be one of your most memorable moments, for sure.
So wish I could go paddle boarding with you this weekend! My oldest goes out with me, but the youngest is still jumping off when I try to head out. I think he is trying to get scuba certified before he is two 😉
Those sound like perfect beach getaways, I’m sure there will lots of summer inspiration and wonderful photo ops…you should visit my area on the Big Island 🙂
I love the beach and just spent the last 8 months in tropical climates, including Bali and Thailand. The beaches were amazing in Ko Lanta and Ao Nang, but the sun is so hot! Hard not to get burnt to a crisp. Your summer plans sound great…just pack a lot of sunscreen.
I really want to learn to dive. I LOVE the ocean and have always been interested in what goes on below my snorkel level, but I’m so nervous. Tell me how it goes!
Sounds like the perfect way to spend summer, on the beach and in the water! With summer just finished here in Australia I am making my winter plans which will be a long weekend in the outback, an overnight trip to Canberra for Floriade and at the end of winter I’m off to explore New Zealand’s South Island. Can’t wait!
Looks like you’ve got a great bucket list! Looking forward to checking some of these off my list, as well. As for scuba diving, if I can do it, anyone can. I am claustrophobic, a weak swimmer, and I don’t like getting my head wet, but I am still a certified diver. I did it for love (my husband is a diver), but I learned to love it myself.
That’s really good to hear, Jessica. I’m a little claustrophobic too! I’m really starting to think that I will fall in love with it though.
