I still remember the day Scott and I decided it was time to get serious about starting a travel blog. We were backpacking through Southeast Asia, staying in $5/night huts, and we felt this inexplicable desire to share everything we were experiencing. I never imagined our little site would grow into what it has become today and it’s hard to believe we are still passionate about it over three years later.
We’ve had our ups and downs, but this site is probably my proudest creative accomplishment. It has forced me to challenge myself and has made me realize it’s possible to make a living doing something I love.
I’m still in awe when people tell me we inspire them. I love helping people find the confidence to pursue their own passions and I hope this site continues to motivate others for many more years to come.
Over the last three years, Scott and I have traveled more than we ever thought possible while having a home base. I always thought I would have to give up a permanent residence in order to see the world, but that’s obviously not the case.
This is the first year we have actually written a blogiversary post. We are both horrible at remembering important dates, even the anniversary of the day we met — which we completely failed to celebrate last year. But three years feels like a pretty big milestone and sometimes it’s beneficial to recognize your accomplishments, so you can realize how far you have come.
I’m astonished that over 35,000 people visit our site every month. Sometimes I wonder if I’m letting our readers down by not posting as often as we did in the beginning, but I hope you still find value in the posts we create.
This year, I’m excited we finally finished our photography website and started offering travel photography prints. Within the next few weeks, we will have a new store up and running on this site, so stay tuned for some changes.
We have a few amazing trips coming up that we can’t wait to share with all of you, in addition to plenty of posts on Alaska!
We can’t thank you enough for following our journey. Here’s to another 3+ years!
