Bird’s Eye View of Maui

Scott and I were both anticipating our helicopter tour in Maui to be one of the highlights of our trip. I have only been in a helicopter once prior to this experience, just a short 15-minute ride from the bottom of Havasupai Reservation, so I wanted to make sure this was included in our Maui itinerary.

Since Maui is known for its beautiful reefs, lush landscapes and towering waterfalls, I knew we wouldn’t be disappointed with the views from above. We took the 60-minute “Complete Island Tour” with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.

The views were stunning, however, I didn’t anticipate how difficult it would be to photograph the landscapes with the midday reflections on the helicopter windows. A cloudy day would have been ideal, but sometimes you have to work with the photography conditions you are given.

Since I took all of these photos with an iPhone, I decided to edit them dramatically in order to hide some of the reflections.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters offers six different tour options from Maui. I’m glad we were able to see the entire island including gorgeous Hana and West Maui. We could even see Molokini Crater just off in the distance.

I learned a little about Maui during the tour, but was thankful our pilot didn’t talk the whole time. It’s a relaxing experience and something I highly recommend trying if you are heading to the island.

Disclosure: We were guests of Maui Visitors Bureau and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, however, all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Beautiful views. I wish we had the chance to do this when we were in Maui. I think that there is nothing better than seeing a landscape from the sky. Well done!

As usual, more than the normal number of great photos in your posts. Love these shots. Have only been to Maui once and didn’t love it, but now I am visually reconsidering 😉

What? You didn’t reconsider it with my posts? Maybe because I didn’t do the helicopter tour and now I regret it.
